The ‘Happy’ Combination
According to research, the perfect combination to make you feel happy is friends, music and sunshine. That’s why you’re left smiling for days after you’ve just been to a festival or an outdoor concert in the summer – it’s a real mood lifter! Unfortunately, it’s not really feasible to go to festivals every weekend in June, July and August, so instead you should recreate the atmosphere yourself. Our Malling escorts love to have a girls day out in the sun, and particularly like to sing along to a good tune!
If the weather forecast is good, you can go ahead with your plans. First of all, you need to get some of your friends on board. You could either choose a group who already know each other well and get along, or you could introduce some people who haven’t met before. It’s a good idea to pitch the idea to them in advance rather than waiting until the day to make sure you get enough people; try sending out a group email or creating an event on a social networking site. Anywhere from 3 pals to a huge group is bound to be a blast!
Once you have numbers confirmed, find a spot that’s convenient for everyone; London is full of beautiful parks so you’ll be spoiled for choice. It’s a good idea to check with the local council before you go – some parks have regulations against drinking alcohol, lighting barbecues and playing loud music. Once you find somewhere that suits your needs, all that’s left to do is turn up on the day.
Make a summer play list on your MP3 player that is full of feel good tunes – music makes a huge difference to your mood, so this part is integral. Take a small pair of battery powered speakers so that your group can all enjoy the songs. If you or any of your friends can play the guitar, you could take an acoustic along with you; having a jam always goes down well!
As you’re likely to be spending the whole afternoon outdoors, think about what you need to take with you. You’ll need enough blankets to sit on, and perhaps some prepare some games by taking a Frisbee or a boomerang. Be mindful of other people in the park if you do organise games. If everyone chips in by taking something to eat, you can have a great spread of food too, topping off your happy day!
