Fight the Signs of Ageing

Women are always stocking up on beauty products in an attempt to make themselves look younger. Moisturisers, night cream, day cream, make up, hair dye… it’s a never ending battle against father time. If only all ladies could look as gorgeous as our mature escorts! These days, it’s not just women who are expected to take care of themselves; thanks to the George Clooneys and Brad Pitts of this world, men have to make an effort if they want to attract the opposite sex. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to fight the signs of ageing without resorting to botox!

Obviously, to keep the beer belly at bay you need to eat a balanced diet and do exercise – that’s the way things have always been. But did you know that lack of sleep can also increase your chance of weight gain? What music to our ears – we can prevent the bulge by getting more shut eye! It’s because lack of sleep increases your urge to eat carbohydrates, which are bad news.

One sign of ageing that affects everyone is wrinkles. There’s no avoiding them, it’s mother nature’s way of marking you with her sell by date. However, there are ways that you can dramatically slow down the onset; firstly, avoid too much sun. If you cover yourself in oil and sunbathe all year round, you’ll look like a walnut shell by the time you’re 35. Instead, wear a moisturiser on your face that contains sunscreen; if you like the golden look, it’s wise to fake it. Secondly, cut down on sugar; it attacks the collagen in your skin making it lose its elasticity. Less of the builder’s tea!

When it comes to going grey, the trick is to tackle the problem as soon as possible. If you’re 80% white and suddenly turn brown again, everyone will know that you borrowed your wife’s hair dye! Instead, start to cover the greys as soon as they appear with a colour that matches your own. The world will be none the wiser…

Finally, look after your teeth. Stained or missing teeth can add years onto your appearance; to prevent this, you should be brushing your teeth properly every day, flossing and visiting your dentist at least once a year. If your teeth are stained from years of coffee and red wine drinking or smoking, you could have a whitening treatment to rejuvenate your smile.
